Day 6 Pacific Crossing

Day 6 Date: Wednesday, April 18th, 2018 Time: 17:00UTC Location: 12° 52.501’N 114° 47.582′ W COG: 225° T SOG: 6 knots 24 hour distance traveled: 121 nm Distance to the Marquesas: 2005 nm Annie’s taking a day off from the computer today so you get to hear from Cameron. I really am blessed to have a wife that will tag along on this dream and adventure and truly make it her own. She’s very patient with this not-so-simple life and has become quite the offshore sailor through the years. The seas have calmed down a little after a boisterous and sporty evening last night. We lost three bowls in the washing process when they fell and smashed on the floor after dinner last night. One was one of our authentic Mexican pottery bowls. We might show up in the Marquesas eating out of coffee cups at this rate. In some ways it’s o.k. since we’re both off coffee right now and haven’t had any tea since the start of lent. Our morning beverage of choice before departing on this passage was hot water and some fresh squeezed Mexican limes. It’s now getting so hot we’re even cutting back on that. The days are consistently in the upper 80’s (28C) and last night was the first night watch without a jacket for me. I like that transition! Today I have taken over as Net Manager for our daily 2018 SSB Puddle Jump net. We are one of the last boats in the fleet with SSB so it makes sense. Dan on SV Dazzler did a great job setting up the net and getting us all organized. He worked through many issues in the beginning so now I just need to keep it going. Dan will arrive in Nuka Hiva tomorrow and will be able to relax! Of the 40+ boats that left Banderas Bay, about 50% departed in one push a little more than three weeks ago, many of those are arriving this week. Some of them will still be there when we arrive in Nuka Hiva and hopefully we’ll also see some of them at the Tahiti Moorea Rendezvous in June. The girls are well and enjoying Anne of Green gables on the computer right now. We finished the last of the mangos today. Tomorrow will probably be the last of the oranges and grapefruits. Soon our fruit will be down to apples, watermelons and Jicama (technically not a fruit but the girls love it with some fresh squeezed lime which we still have a lot of). Banyan clear, this frequency is no longer in use (at least for now).
