Turns out all of our solar panels are blown, the charger needed replacing (or did it...), our engine starter battery is done, the dinghy is in need of some patching and there are about 50 other little things that need doing .

Leaving La Barca
This whole RV thing is hilarious. To be honest, I’ve had a little bit of a difficult time embracing the RV lifestyle. There is something not very graceful about pulling into an RV park that stands in stark contrast to dropping the hook in a secluded anchorage. But hey, we are getting used to the …
Boats, Planes and …RVs?
The Vawters are heading back to the water at long last. I know some of you thought (and maybe some even prayed) that we were going to become land lubbers again, but it’s back to the boat life for us! I dropped off writing posts near the end of June last year. We weren’t adventuring …
The Countdown is ON!
It’s down to the wire! In less than 5 days we will be upping anchor and heading south to Mexico in a big convoy of other boats called the Baja Ha Ha! “FINALLY!” you say, and so do we! I know some of you have been taking bets on whether or not we will ever …
Prepping for Mexico – The Big To-Do List
First off let me say just how happy we are with our boat. When I explain to people all the things that we are upgrading, changing or fixing on the boat they furrow their brow and say “So do you think you made the right choice on the boat you bought?” YES YES YES. We …
Ouch!

Still in Napa?
Greetings from the Napa Valley Marina, Yes, we are still here. I’m laying on my back right now in the cockpit looking up at our new main sail mounted tidily onto our boom. It looks great. Why are we still here then? Well, the biggest reason is that we are all sick. Whatever the girls …
Becoming a Minimalist
Moving onto Banyan has FORCED me to be a minimalist. I’ve never considered myself to be a huge consumer of stuff, but going through the process of moving onto a boat has opened my eyes! It’s really pretty amazing the amount of stuff we had… and we didn’t even have that much stuff! We had started …
On Board!
We moved on board Banyan just about one week ago. It’s been a very busy time finding homes for all of our things and working on additional projects. We are happy to report that we did not grossly over estimate the amount of room we have. It’s quite the process finding just the right space …
